The Local Pub
Mine is The Victory. Its utter fucking shit and I never use it. Its one of the older, unloved Greene King pubs. No food, sticky floor and surly bar staff.

Sounds like some around the old ground.

What's your local like?

I don't doubt it has mate. I don't mind the George; the ponciness isn't too awful. However I prefer the Black Lion opposite for an honest pint in an honest pub.

As the crow flies, The Wellington, Alma Terrace.

As it's Sam Smith's, it's got good cheap beer and no fuss.

To be honest, it's a bit scruffy, but so am I, so it's a good fit.

Unfortunately, it's on a street parallel to mine, so I have go up to the A19, past the atrocious Fulford Arms, and back down Alma Terrace to get to it.

Dan M - the Duke is a great little boozer which hasn't changed AT ALL since the 1980s, unlike the George & Dragon which has become very poncey. Had some great nights out in Epping back in the day.

My favourite local back in the day was the British Oak at the Blackheath Standard. It's still there actually.

Duke of Wellington, Epping - one of those pubs that's huge on the outside and tiny inside. When you walk in all conversation stops as everyone looks at you. A darts nook but the electric scoreboard doesn't work. It had a beer garden with a kids' slide but I've never worked out how to get to it (nor would I take my kids there).

Mine is either the King Harold or Shephard & Dog.

I frequent neither, haven't gone in the Harold since about 2009 when it wasn't even my local.

I tend to go back onto my old manor and go to the Tavern or the Eastbrook.

I have an amazing number of pubs and bars near my house in London from chains to craft bars to very old school pubs to foody pubs. Last count was about 30 within 10 minutes walk. About 100 within 20 minutes including a brewery tap. Never ever. Een better.

Mine is The Cock Inn, Bishops Stortford. A decent local.

My bird particularly enjoys The Cock Inn cider.

Re: The Local Pub
The Mall in Clifton is ten feet from my front door. Lovely outdoor bit with fairy lights, split over three levels inside with loads of cosy corners with big comfy leather seats. Serves my favourite beer (tribute). Perfect for going on a date but too posh for me otherwise.

Re: The Local Pub
Barley Mow in Hersham. Not the best boozer but was decent enough as they show footy in there, however they've recently done away with Stella so I now frequent the Royal George instead. Worth the extra 3 minutes walk.

Prince Albert Whitton. Cracking paddy pub in Whitton. Having a pint in there now.

Proper local. A lot of my son's football team admin is carried out there, which normally means staggering out about 2.00.

Roast spuds on the bar during the football on a Sunday and a fair few in Hammers get down.

The boozer nearest to me is a fucking shit hole that I rarely see anyone in, the one a little bit further on is one of them cheapo food places.

I frequent neither.

Victory in Ashingdon Sock??

Nah, the Victory in Saffron Walden. Lovely building and its dedicated to Nelson's ship.
But it is utter fucking gash.

It is dog-friendly though.
